Schnitzhofer & Associates, LLC recently completed the structural design for this beautiful residential project. This was a fun project for us, as there were very few orthogonal lines throughout the architectural concept. The foundation of choice was superior walls, and we were able to minimize overall structural material costs by staying with off-the-shelf dimensional lumber. However, there was a need for engineered lumber (LVL’s) between the narrow window mullions adjacent to shear walls and moments frames.
