Schnitzhofer & Associates recently completed the structural reinforcement program for the Historic Coca-Cola Facility on Preston Avenue. Among the addition of a beautiful new outdoor space, our analysis included the restoration and reinforcement of damaged concrete stringers and girders, evaluation of in-place historic “open-web” steel bar joists, repair and reinforcement of damaged steel beams and columns, analysis of existing structural steel framing to receive proposed RTU’s and Skylights. The foundations will be supported at specific locations with new helical piers and underpin brackets. New steel and reinforced concrete columns were surgically placed within the architectural elements of the existing framing to allow for the addition of many new storefront doors and cantilevered canopies.
